Today, our view of the world is defined by the ubiquitous photography, as well as by the assumption, that photographs reflect reality. Although my paintings might look “realistic”, they are – as well as any photography – an interpretation of the visible.
People, landscapes, or objects – for me it’s irrelevant, whether I paint a face or a landscape. Every subject consists of abstract shapes and countless colour nuances, which, during the painting process, form a unity; similar to the rendering on a screen, consisting of thousands of pixels. From this point of view, every act of painting is abstract.
